What is Joy Ride?

Joy Ride is an indoor cycling studio in Madison, Wisconsin. We are woman-owned and locally founded. Our classes are 45-minute rhythm-based cycling workouts. We move with the music, incorporating sprints and hills along the way that build strength, confidence, and joy. 

Your instructor will make sure you have everything you need to walk out of class filled with joy. They bring the motivation, the direction, the support, the music, and the hype. They’ll make sure you feel comfortable on the bike and are meeting your goals.

*We have one 60-minute ride a week, currently on Sundays at 8:30AM.

Do I need cycling shoes? How do I pick my bike?

Our bikes labeled with “t” have toe cages so cycling shoes are not required. However, cycling shoes will enhance your experience, so please bring your own if you have them! Bikes are SPD and delta cleat compatible. If you have SPD clips, you can book any bike. If you have delta clips, choose a bike with a "d" next to it, and if you have tennis shoes, choose a bike with a "t" (for toe cages ). You can choose your bike on the seating chart when you sign up, and if you want to switch your spot, you can do so through your account or your free Joy Ride app.

How early should I arrive for my first class? And future classes?

Please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure we have enough time to set you up safely and get ready for class. Once you know the studio, you can come 5-10 minutes early, but please note that no late entries are allowed for your safety, the instructor's, and your classmates' safety.

How early can I book a class?

Unlimited members are able to book classes 14 days in advance. Everyone else, including 8x and 4x members, class pack holders, and new riders are able to book 10 days in advance.

What will be provided for class? 

You’re sure to sweat at Joy Ride, so sweat towels will be provided. There are also several showers on-site should you need to rinse off after class. Shower towels are provided upon request, and the bathrooms have soap, shampoo, deodorant, and dry shampoo. There is a water station, so remember to bring a refillable bottle. Lockers are provided to store your stuff safely during class. The music can be loud, so we have earplugs if you want!

What do I need to bring?

● Water Bottle (fountain on-site), water bottles for sale $5

● Clothing you can sweat in

● Tennis shoes, Delta or SPD cycling shoes

What if I need to cancel the class?

You can cancel your reservation up to six hours before class time. If you cancel within the six-hour window, you will be charged a late cancel fee of $15. If you don't cancel prior to class, there is a no-show charge of $25. Do your best to cancel asap so you can avoid fees and so someone else can have your bike.

Do your memberships have a monthly minimum?

Yes, please check the minimum month on the membership or expiration on the class package before you purchase. These do vary based on when you bought the package or membership, so when in doubt, feel free to ask!

You can also freeze your membership for up to 2 months if you need. Reach out, we are here to help.
